    Advice For a Strong Marriage

The other day, I had this idea that it would be fun to gather some advice from people about what has made their marriage/ relationships work. I feel like there is such a gap in our society now between generations and that often means that we miss out on so much knowledge and wisdom, so I thought that maybe I could gain some relationship wisdom this way. Relationships aren't a Disney movie. They're work, magic and mud. They're both hard and amazing and totally worth it- or at

5 Reasons to Adventure for Your Engagement Session

I have to start this post by admitting that I'm a little bit biased. I intentionally surround myself with nature and try to get my couples out with me to enjoy my two favourite things at once- taking photos and the beautiful outdoors. Engagement photos are included with each of my wedding packages and I encourage each of my couples to take advantage of that bonus somewhere with beautiful scenery and great wilderness. The west coast of Canada also offers endless possibilitie

    A Little Bit of Ireland

So in case you didn't know, Logan and I recently spent 2.5 months in Ireland. We originally planned to live there for a year, but things didn't go exactly as planned. We still had an amazing time while we were there and were able to tour a large amount of the country. Locations included: Glendalough, Dublin, Cliffs of Moher, Killarney, Dark Hedge, Giant's Causeway, Carrick- a- Rede, Leap Castle, Mayo and Ballinastoe! If you want to see even more scenery and and know more ab

Brendan & Darcy | Cannon Beach Elopement

So as many of you know, I had planned on being in Ireland full time for most of 2019. When I made that plan, I also said no to quite a few wedding inquiries in Canada, because I didn't plan on being here. One of those weddings was Brenda and Darcy's. Obviously, I ended up coming back to Canada earlier than expected and I was blessed to be invited to their wedding as a guest instead of as a photographer. As a gift to them, I shot a wedding video, but I also managed to sneak

    Planning Your Wedding Day Timeline

One of the most common questions I receive from wedding couples is, "how much time should we allot for everything?" That can be a hard question to answer, and the answer is different for everyone’s wedding day. That being said, there are definitely some commonalities and I would love to share that info with you today! To start with, most weddings generally consist of 6-7 parts: getting ready, ceremony, formal photos, wedding party photos and reception. Some weddings also i

Alex & Myles | Courtney Backyard Wedding

I love every wedding I photograph, but I especially love the ones that have a great story behind how they found me (haha)! A couple of months ago I made a post in a travel group about buying a sailboat. Alex ended up creeping my Facebook page because of that post and finding this website! So long story short, that is how I ended up in Courtney on Star Wars Day, photographing their beautiful back yard wedding. Both the ceremony and reception were held and homes on the street

Teighan & Cleighton | Cedar Farm Wedding

I'm pretty sure that farm weddings, especially those involving dogs, are always a good time. There's a rule about it or something and Teighan and Cleighton's wedding was no exception. Full of fun people, beautiful scenery and tasty food, this wedding was a pleasure to be a part of! Getting ready/ first look photos were taken along the water in Cedar with the wedding taking part on a private property. #vancouverislandelopementphotographer #vancouverislandelopement #vancouver

Glendalough Bride | Ireland Wedding Inspiration

I'm assuming that when looking at Glendalough, it isn't hard to understand why I wanted to take some photos of someone within these gorgeous ruins. An old monastic site, Glendalough is a beautiful mix of nature and ancient stonework that creates a perfect opportunity to produce beautiful wedding photos. Ireland, you never disappoint! #Irelandelopementphotographer #Irelandadventurephotographer #irelandgayweddingphotographer #irelandelopementphotography #irelandweddingphotogra

Andrew & Brianna | Qualicum Beach Wedding

I'm sure everyone who has been following my photography knows by now that I am a sucker for nature. But, did you know that I'm also a sucker for classic style, old home and english-ish style gardens? No? Well now that you know, it won't be hard to understand why I loved photographing this wedding so much (on top of, of course, how lovely Andrew- king of sarcasm- and Brianna are to be around). First look and getting ready photos were done at Brianna's mom's home/ her neighbou

Into the Water | Empowerment Session

It's the time of year that brings lots of misty days and cloudy skies, and although these photos were actually taken in the smoke and not in the mist or fog, they still remind me of this time of year. This creative session was inspired by the idea of shedding the old and making room for the new; releasing what no longer serves us and letting the water wash it away. Winter seems to naturally bring about these changes and I love that about our rainy days on the coast. Model: B

Glendalough In the Wind | Glendalough Elopement

So for the last few weeks this winter, Ireland had spring weather. The weather was dead calm with almost no rain and no wind. It was so calm and warm that people had been talking about how much it worries them to see the weather so different than usual. The month before that though, it rained every day (not exaggerating) and the wind blew like crazy every day too. I was starting to think at that point that the entire Irish winter was going to be one endless wind storm. So the

Gus & Katelind | Cliffs of Moher Proposal

Can you imagine, you take a trip to Ireland from the US with your love. He convinces you that you need to drive across the country just to go to some cliffs... and then, out of nowhere, he drops down to one knee and pops out a ring! AND THEN A PHOTOGRAPHER IS IN YOUR FACE TAKING A BUNCH OF PICTURES! But that somehow makes it all the more magical, because you have said yes at the Cliffs of Moher! Congrats you two! Gus, you did well! #vancouverislandelopementphotographer #vanc

Love & the Lough | Glendalough Engagement Session

The thing the Internet doesn't tell you about Ireland is how many incredible places there are here. It seems like every direction I look reveals another incredible natural scene. Looking on the internet, however, I would never have known that this entire set of photos could be taken above Glendalough. I'm so happy we chose to come here for our adventures in Ireland! Two weeks ago I put out a model call to find people that were willing to hike with me in formal wear for som

Darylann & Devin | Intimate Forest Wedding

I love intimate weddings. And I love the forest. And I love intimate weddings even more when they're in the forest. If I could photograph elopements and intimate weddings in the forest all the time, I would be over the moon. When Darylann and Devin contacted me about their intimate wedding at Englishman River Falls, I knew it was going to be a fantastic day. I wasn't wrong. Everything from the location, to their family, to the love that showed so strong between them was pe

Mikaela & Nico | Tofino Elopement

I feel like these photos are going to speak for themselves, just as any other Tofino engagement does. The weather reports were calling for rain, and so I headed out to Tofino expecting to be covering my camera in a ziploc and praying that I didn't get water on my lens. But instead, the clouds only circled and we were blessed with one of those rare sunny West Coast days :D Mikaela and Nico decided to elope on the beach, They did all of the official marry-ish stuff on the la

Love in the Rain | Little Mountain Intimate Wedding

Little mountain. Rain. A gorgeous couple in love. These two found one another a little bit later in life, but have not wasted any time since they discovered eachother. It is very easy to see how in love they are with one another and how well they fit together. The afternoon started off with their intimate wedding ceremony in the rain at the top of little mountain, followed by a beautiful and intimate wedding reception at the McMillan Art Centre. Have you ever seen a pizza pa

Sidney & Natalie | Cathedral Grove Forest Wedding

Ok, so, old growth, wedding, people who love hiking like I love hiking. Yep. it is a dream the way it sounds like it is a dream. Oh, AND they had a quiet elvish theme going on. Like really, could a wedding be any more perfect than that? These two met when Natalie came to Canada from Germany as a wwoofer on Sid's family's farm. It wasn't very long after that the two of them realized that they had something special and that Natalie was pretty excited about the prospect of b

Brianna & Andrew | Jack Point Engagement

One of my favourite parks on this beautiful island is Jack Point Park. Right next to the Duke Point Ferry, it is a great place to stop if you are on your way back to the mainland, or if you wanna do an engagement session! It took us about two hours to hike to and from the point (I use hike lightly... it's a mostly flat walk), and that was with quite a few photo stops along the way. These two were great models and lovely to take a two hour walk-hike with as well! #vancouveri

So I have been waiting over a year to convince someone to come with me to this amazing spot! It involves a little bit of a hike to some amazing west coast rock overlooking the open Pacific ocean. Winter Time Love | Mount Washington Engagement Session

Question: What's better than being with someone you love? Answer: Being with someone you love on a mountain in the snow so they have no choice but to snuggle up to you rreeaaallllyy close to keep you warm :D We had so much fun with this engagement session, chasing wind and stomping through the snow! Mount Washington is so beautiful any time of year and definitely did not disappoint. #adventureelopementphotographer #adventureweddingphotographer #irelandelopementphotographer
